The topic for this week's Illustration Friday was "Exotic". I decided to draw a pineapple. Although I got to know the look of a pineapple pretty well by the time I drew this, I did not produce the picture that I'd envisioned. However, as it is my intent to use Illustration Friday as an encouragement to complete artwork, I finished it up and I'm calling it done. Now I can finally eat that darned pineapple!

Well, I don't know what you envisioned, but I like what you ended up with.
Thanks, Alison!
Love it! I had no idea at first that it was a pineapple, but now I see it. It really works just as an abstract organic image.
Thanks! Really? I thought it was pretty pineapple-y. Maybe that's what happens when you get too close to your work. :-)
Painting is all about seeing and you just helped me to see a pineapple in a new way. I used to take my mom to her painting class once a week. At that rate, it's amazing how quickly a body of work accumulates.
Ricki--It's so true. You really have to put preconceptions aside and look to see what is there.
